Counselling CPD Book Group
March's Topic
Are you a newly qualified counsellor looking to expand your knowledge in a supportive group with fellow professionals?

Maybe you are experienced in your field and would like to find regular affordable CPD opportunities.

The Counselling CPD Book Group offers you the opportunity to study and discuss a relevant topic within a small group setting. Sessions cost £3 and are held bi-monthly on Saturday afternoons. You can book a place by emailing us directly to let us know you're coming, that way we make sure we have enough tea and biscuits.

Who Is Running the Group?
Lesley Padley and Kate Ashton are qualified counsellors working in private pratice in Nottingham. Both MBACP registered and keen to get on top of their CDP requirement.
A Fresh Start
We've got a fresh new look for a fresh new term, and a fresh new approach! (Have I said Fresh and New enough yet?)

A Little Bit of our History
One of the reasons this groups was set up was to help tackle the dreaded book pile that all counsellors seem to have. You know, the pile of books we buy and intend to read, but never quite get round to it. So, we used to all buy the same book and get together to discuss is.
What we realised was that we were just adding more books to the pile, possibly still not really reading them, and not really getting much out of our CPD opportunity. So! we have decided to make a few changes to the format of the group.

So What's so FRESH and NEW?
From now on we will be setting a topic for discussion at the group. Then group members can choose the book they prefer to read, or already have? Or you might even choose to read up on some articles, or watch a youtube video on the topic. Whatever works for you. You record your own research time for CPD, then come together with us to talk through what you have found and share ideas and inspiration for how to apply your knowledge.

We will also provide you with a CPD attendance certificate for your records.

Which Topics will be Discussed ?
We used to have group vote on the book for the next meeting. And we plan to have the same system with the new topics. So Kate and Lesley will choose 3 topics to vote on for the next meeting - and the group will decide. The vote will be on our facebook page. If you're not on facebook, we'll get in touch via email. Only those who have attended the group can vote on the topic.
