Individual counselling

An hour a week that's entirely yours

One-to-one counselling gives you a confidential space to say what's really going on — and a skilled, caring professional to help you make sense of it.

Who it's for

Whatever you're carrying, you can bring it here

People come to us for all sorts of reasons. Some know exactly what's wrong. Others just know that something is. Both are welcome.

  • Anxiety — worry that won't switch off, panic, or a constant sense of dread.
  • Depression — low mood, emptiness, or losing interest in things you used to enjoy.
  • Trauma — recent or long ago, still shaping how you feel and live now.
  • Loss and bereavement — grief for a person, a relationship, or a life you expected to have.
  • Relationship difficulties — with a partner, family, friends or colleagues.
  • Low self-esteem — a harsh inner voice that tells you you're not enough.
  • Life changes — a new chapter, an ending, or a crossroads you didn't choose.
  • Something you can't name — when things just feel wrong and you don't know why. That's reason enough.

What sessions are like

Talking helps — but it isn't the only way

Most sessions are simply two people talking, honestly and without hurry. You set the pace. Nothing is off-limits, and nothing is forced.

Some things, though, are hard to put into words. When talking feels impossible, your counsellor can offer creative ways of expressing what's inside — imagery, drawing, working with objects. There's no right way to do counselling; there's only the way that works for you.

Sessions last 50–60 minutes, usually weekly, at the centre in Beeston or online. You might come for a short block of sessions or for longer, open-ended work — you and your counsellor will decide together.

Our promise to you

Four things you can count on

Every session, with every counsellor, these hold true.

Confidential

What you share stays between you and your counsellor. You can say the things you've never said out loud, knowing they won't travel beyond that room.

Non-judgemental

Nothing you bring will shock us, and nothing will be held against you. Whatever you've done, felt or thought, you'll be met with acceptance — not verdicts.

Honest

Your counsellor will be real with you — warm, but truthful. Gentle honesty, offered with care, is often what helps people see things clearly for the first time.

Respectful

Your beliefs, your background, your choices and your pace — all respected. You stay in charge of your own counselling, always.

Fees & times

Affordable, and honest about money

We're a not-for-profit, so our fees stay low — and if money is tight, our bursary fund can help with up to £15 per session, when funds are available.
