Our team
Meet the team
A small, experienced team of professionally qualified counsellors and psychotherapists — real people who have spent years learning how to listen well.
Every counsellor at New Dawn is professionally qualified, experienced, and here because they genuinely care. Alongside them, trainee counsellors on supervised placements offer lower-fee sessions as part of their training — always under close supervision, never out of their depth. And when you call or visit, one of our volunteer receptionists will usually be the first friendly voice you hear.
You don't need to pick a counsellor yourself. After your first assessment, we'll match you with the person best suited to you and what you're bringing.
Julia
Integrative Counsellor
Julia has been a member of New Dawn Counselling Centre since beginning as a placement counsellor in 2011. She initially trained as a Person-Centred counsellor before developing her practice into a more integrative approach through further training and experience.
She is an accredited member of the BACP and an affiliate counsellor of New Dawn. She currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the organisation.
Julia's passion is helping people to value themselves and recognise their worth, develop self-awareness, and build resilience and self-belief. She supports clients to make choices that reflect their needs and to live in a way that feels meaningful to them.
Her main area of specialisation is working with children and young people aged 10 to 18, supporting them through a variety of difficulties, including relationships, anxiety, self-esteem issues, neurodiversity and developing their identities.
Julia also works with adults of all ages who may be experiencing a range of life struggles, supporting them to make choices that feel right for them and put themselves at the heart of their decisions.

Kerry has fourteen years of experience working with clients presenting with a diverse range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low mood, childhood sexual abuse and neglect, shame, low self-esteem, trauma, sibling and family issues, relationship difficulties, domestic abuse, bereavement and loss, divorce, separation, life struggles, and gender-related issues. She works integratively, drawing on theories from the humanistic modality, and offers support to both individuals and couples, including LGBTQ+ couples.
Rachel
Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor
Rachel is an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor. She holds an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling. She has a special interest in the impact of early trauma and attachment failure, and its effects upon an individual's sense of self. Alongside this, she helps clients develop an integral awareness of the physiological and emotional effects they experience as a result of their struggles.
Tim
Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Tim has been a soldier in the British Army (9 years) and a church leader (vicar) for 31 years, and enjoys being an affiliate member of New Dawn. He has worked with 70 different clients on a range of different issues, and offers a safe listening space.
Evelyn
Integrative Counsellor
Evelyn is an integrative counsellor with several years of experience, offering a warm, non-judgemental and confidential space where clients can feel safe to talk, be heard and express themselves.
Life can feel overwhelming at times. Whether clients are finding it hard to cope, living with long-term illness or pain, navigating autism (diagnosed or not), or processing trauma, loss or bullying, Evelyn offers a supportive space where they do not have to go through it alone.
Her approach is integrative, meaning she tailors therapy to suit each individual's needs. She draws on a range of techniques, including Person-Centred Therapy, CBT and creative approaches, to support her clients' wellbeing.
If you're ready to take the next step, Evelyn is here to walk alongside you.
Anna
Integrative Counsellor
Anna has five years of clinical practice and MSc-level training in Integrative Psychotherapy. She strives to provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace.
Recognising that every person is unique, she draws on humanistic and developmental-relational approaches, alongside creative methods such as sand tray therapy, to tailor the therapeutic process to each client's individual needs.
She has a particular interest and experience in supporting people experiencing developmental trauma and bereavement, as well as working with neurodivergent clients. Together, you can explore and make sense of your experiences, relationships and patterns, developing greater self-understanding and new ways of responding as you move towards meaningful personal growth.
Sian
Humanistic & Integrative Counsellor
Sian holds a BSc (Hons) in Healthcare Studies and a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. She has nearly 30 years of experience as a Registered Nurse working for the NHS, and over 12 years as a counsellor both at New Dawn Counselling Centre and in private practice. As a humanistic and integrative counsellor, she integrates modalities such as person-centred, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to create individually tailored therapy according to the needs of her clients. She has a passion for enabling clients to find their own strengths and resources, empowering them to continue their own healing journey long after therapy has ended.
Abi
Integrative Trainee Psychotherapist
Abi is currently working towards an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. She offers a supportive and accepting space where clients can explore their experiences, relationships and ways of making sense of themselves. Her approach is grounded in relational-developmental psychotherapy, recognising that our early relationships and developmental experiences can shape psychological distress, how we understand ourselves, relate to others and respond to the world around us.
Alongside her psychotherapy training, Abi has a background in education. She brings the same curiosity, patience and acceptance to her therapeutic work, creating a space where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace.
Jess
Person-Centred Trainee Counsellor
Jess has a BSc degree in Psychology alongside her counselling qualifications, and she has experience working in various mental health supporting roles.
Ian
Person-Centred Trainee Counsellor
Ian has a BSc degree in Social Science (with Psychology) and is working towards a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. He has experience as a bereavement volunteer.
